The wise one, myself and Hero (our 12 yr old Greyhound) are setting off to start a new life in Portugal in January.Our outfit is a Lunar Lexon EW & Nissan Terrano. We haven't done a lot of caravaning, so are looking for caravan shops near me and maybe a bit of advice.

We are setting off (Hero has his passport!) hopefully by the tunnel and then travelling down to the Algarve. What we are unsure about is any hints on the best route to take,do all continental campsites use the 2 pin plug for hook-ups and we were thinking of staying at service stations during the night on the way down,is this a good idea? and if so can anyone recommend the best ones.

We are planning after fixing the caravan brake to stay in the caravan, we are not sure what part of the Algarve yet, but there is a newspaper called Algarve 123 which is available on line, in it every week there are several people who have villas with a lot of land, they have water, electric and washing machine and they all charge about 49 euros per week.

We hope to find a nice site with one of these and then find some jobs to supplement our savings! Bit of a gamble but kids have left and moved abroad sold our house and thought why not give it a go especially as its a lot warmer there.
