If they are going down the route of reducing weight by getting rid of the gas appliances, why on earth put a microwave in? They are no lightweight item and I bet they will install them at high level. We currently have a van with an upto 2kw fire, mains heated hot water, however, as all good cooks use gas, we like our gas hob just as it is.
Some narrowboats are going down the gas-free route too, butthen there using is a huge bank of batteries, a massive invertor and/or a damn big engine to provide power, saving mass isn't really the issue with narrowboats, more a safety issue as you cannot have gas drop holes like caravans do. Personally it wouldn't suit me but I can see a market for an all-electric caravan. I would want it to be an option or alternative in a manufacturers range of products. I think the idea has more merit than some whacky things that have been tried lately.
And only about 10% of caravanners leave the UK so that's 90% of the market to gain. The weight saving with all electric is not great but if they get enough people to sign up then the potential cost saving on the new product is notable. Do you have a dedicated elddis parts department?

We were returning yesterday at about 2 pm from a stay on a site near Martley and ambling down the country lane at about 30 mph towing our caravan behind 4 x 4 when I hit some back ice and the next moment the vehicle and the caravan were all over the road. Will need elddis spares.
I think the caravan initially kept the vehicle on the road albeit sliding and then the caravan hit the ice and it was the turn of the 4 x 4 to hold the caravan on the road. Creamed my rods as I thought we were going to come a cropper but luckily despite sliding all over the place never even connected the bushes on either side. If I was still towing with my Volvo S80 I think the car and the caravan would have been history!

On another forum a member was just saying how they had the heating on and a plate of soup on the electric ring and when they put the kettle on it tripped the bollard. This was meant to have been on a 16 amp pitch and given how many times some of us will have accidentally tripped a bollard ourselves I can only see a very limited market for this.

When an outfit gets out of shape then you are in the lap of the gods to an extent, you can mitigate this with appropriate tyres.
I agree there's no guarantee that similar will not occur in summer but hopefully my chances of encountering black ice in June are fairly low.

Currently every country is looking like a sinking ship and I think I would rather stay in this country at the moment. At least I know how things work and I can speak the language.
